SS Rajamouli is busy carving out Varanasi, a mythological film packed with stylish action. Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran are the lead actors and the film is announced for April 7th, 2027 release in theatres. Rajamouli and his team have been holding talks to close the digital deal for a long time. Telugu360 revealed that Netflix has offered Rs 150 crores for the digital rights for all the languages and this is quite less when compared to the film’s budget and Rajamouli’s stardom.
The top director is now in plans to sell off the digital rights for various streaming platforms. He is in talks with Netflix and Jio Hotstar to close the deals. He is in plans to sell the South digital rights (Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam) for a streaming platform and Hindi rights for the other. All the international languages will be sold for one among the platforms. This would help the makers recover a majority of the budget. All the deals are expected to be closed before the end of this year. KL Narayana is the producer of Varanasi.
